Race Nights, Derby Nights, or Night at the Races as they are widely known is a fundraising event where video horse racing is the highlight or theme of the event. Keep in mind, horse racing is just a portion of your Race Night evening. Your event will also feature 50/50 raffles, basket raffles, side boards, a silent auction, live auctions or other creative raffles to boost your fundraising efforts. Because there is a gaming component involved, Ultimate Race Nights can only work with 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a fundraising event though. Click here for more fundraising ideas!
Ultimate Race Nights has clients who put their event together in a month! However, we suggest a minimum of three to four months to allow for the most flawless planning and to make sure your guests can save the date. With Ultimate Race Nights, our DVDs include 12 races all with 10 horses in the field! Most organizations show 10 races during their night at the races event. Click here to learn more about Ultimate Race Nights DVD rental.
Plan on 15 minutes between each horse race at your gala, which allows you to prepare for the race and your guests enough time to wager on the horses. Although your Ultimate Race Night DVD features 12 races, most horse racing fundraisers feature up to 10 races. Keep in mind, horse racing is the theme of the evening and you still need time to conduct your basket raffles, 50/50’s, silent auction and more. The number of races you conduct will be based on how much time you have available at your event, so plan on 6 to 10 races.
